1d74652b5e Fix portGET_ARGUMENT_COUNT macro 
portGET_ARGUMENT_COUNT uses a GCC extension ##__VA_ARGS__. It forces
the user to compile the code with GNU extensions enabled instead of ISO
language standard. The suggested change is to replace ##__VA_ARGS__ with
__VA_OPT__(,) __VA_ARGS__ which is supported by the current version of
GCC used in ESP-IDF for both C and C++ ISO standards.

This fix would enable ESP-IDF users to compile their code with ISO C++20
standard in future releases.

0771bd1711 espsystem: Rearchitecture and fix eh_frame_parser bugs 
eh_frame_parser is architecture independent, thus the files have
been rearchitectured. Some bugs have been fixed in the test.
A README file has also been added to eh_frame_parser host test
directory.

eh_frame_parser is now able to detect empty gaps in .eh_frame_hdr
table (missing DWARF information).
Fix a bug occuring when parsing backtraces originated from abort().
Fix build missing dependencies issue.

2575c0d49f i2c: fix I2C slave clock source selection 
In I2C slave mode, clock source can now be changed, according to
the flags specified in `i2c_config_t` structure. Thus, ESP32-S2
can now act as an I2C slave, even with a 400KHz master clock.

Console example doesn't duplicate code in `console` component.
Linenoise has been improved: it now has a parametrized command line
length. It is now possible to paste data efficiently to the console.
Note: this can only be done if the cursor is at the end of the line.

05bb4a5d89 bootloader: disable psram cache bug fix for bootloader 
The psram cache bug fix was also being applied to the bootloader binary (for cmake),
which doesnt do any psram access.

Applying this fix would increase the binary size, as much as 300 bytes in worst case scenarios

b967dc0dbf espsystem: add support for RISC-V panic backtrace 
Add .eh_frame and .eh_frame_hdr sections to the binary (can be
enabled/disabled within menuconfig). These sections are parsed
when a panic occurs. Their DWARF instructions are decoded and
executed at runtime, to retrieve the whole backtrace. This
parser has been tested on both RISC-V and x86 architectures.

This feature needs esptool's merge adjacent ELF sections feature.

1d44e40fb1 hal: spi_flash: avoid calling memcpy with NULL buffer 
In practice, calling memcpy with NULL buffer and 0 size works on the
ESP32, but the C standard considers this an undefined behavior.
When building with UBSAN checks enabled, compiler will insert a check
that memcpy argument is non-NULL, regardless of the size argument.

This caused a failure in tools/test_apps/system/panic, which is built
with USBAN enabled for several components.

cbf207bfb8 newlib: add C++ guards to the platform-specific dirent.h 
Before newlib 3.3.0, <dirent.h> bundled in newlib did not include any
function declarations. Instead, the file included the platform-
specific <sys/dirent.h>. This inclusion was inside a C++ guard block.
ESP-IDF provided sys/dirent.h inside newlib component, and this file
contained all the necessary function and structure declarations.

Since da418955f5,
common function declarations have been added to <dirent.h> in newlib.
However, the inclusion of sys/dirent.h has been moved out of the C++
guard block. However we didn't notice this change and did not update
sys/dirent.h in ESP-IDF newlib component to and the now-required
C++ guards there.

This commit adds the missing C++ guards to the platform-specific
sys/dirent.h.

The declarations of common dirent.h functions are now present both in
<dirent.h> (provided by newlib) and in sys/dirent.h (provided by IDF).
We keep the declarations in sys/dirent.h for compatibility, since some
ESP-IDF files and applications may include <sys/dirent.h> directly,
rather than <dirent.h>.

2ac44f1e76 [spi_flash]: fixed test disabling 
* MR 14212 accidentally disabled the test
  "spi_flash deadlock with high priority
  busy-waiting task"
  for all targets except S3 without legacy
  flash implementation. The test is now
  disabled for all targets, since
  the same issue appeared on other targets, too.

a79acb413e bootloader: override the 2nd stage bootloader 
Add the possibility to have user bootloader components. This is performed
from an application/project, by creating bootloader components. To do so,
it is required to create a `bootloader_component` directory containing
the custom modules to be compiled with the bootloader.

Thanks to this, two solutions are available to override the bootloader now:
- Using hooks within a user bootloader component
- Using a user defined `main` bootloader component to totally override the
  old implementation

Please check the two new examples in `examples/custom_bootloader`

fb8d9f76b3 spi: Remove Slave TX/RX set bitlen not effective for ESP32-S2/C3/S3 
Furthermore, RX_EOF_EN should only be set when SPI Slave is configured
for segment transfer mode and the "ms_data_bitlen" field is configured
to control the "IN_SUC_EOF" interrupt. Since "ms_data_bitlen" is not
set anymore for S2, C3 and S3, "RX_EOF_EN" should be cleared.

The maximum input length for the SPI Slave should be applied to the read

14c7d4965b esp_system: Reconfigure the WDTs at the start of the panic handler 
This is mostly important on ESP32 ECO3 with the
ESP32_ECO3_CACHE_LOCK_FIX, because when we stall the other CPU core
before we disable the TG1 WDT then the first CPU can get stuck
in WDT ISR handle_livelock_int routine waiting for the other CPU.

d3d977617b wpa_supplicant: Add WPS strict in config option 
WPS strict disables workarounds with different APs and may cause
IOT issues. Remove this as default and introduce as a config option.

Also declare esp device as single band mobile device otherwise
WFA sniffer was not able to identify it in the certification setup.

96911fb7ea lwip: Fix DHCP Server to remove clients record if request not acked 
When client's request refused by sending NAK, its record still resided
in the linked list of pooled addresses. It is okay from the spec
perspective (RFC2131.p16: Server MAY mark the offered address
unavailable), but would consume some memory if the client didn't retry.

ee2f8b1a62 build system: always build with -fno-jump-tables & -fno-tree-switch-conversion 
Jump tables placed in flash would cause issue with code that needed to be ran from IRAM.

These optimizations are now always disabled.

262107691a pthread: Fix pthread_cond_timedwait returning early from timeout 
The reason timeouts would sometimes happen before the abstime deadline was due
to rounding errors converting the timeout to milliseconds, and also because
vTaskDelay(1) only delays until the next tick which is less than one full tick
period.

e32831033a [esp_rom]: fixed S3 longjmp patch 
* On S3, the placement of ROM functions is
  ECO-dependent. Hence, we don't jump into
  the middle of the longjmp function in ROM
  on S3 anymore.
  Instead, the whole longjump function is used
  in the patch.

* Also properly excluded the patch from
  bootloader build with Makefiles

18f9dabce1 USB: Change IRP to URBs 
This commit changes the IRP (I/O Request Packet) structure to
the URB (USB Request Block) in order to represent USB transfers
in the host stack. The new URB strcuture:

- Add extra safety with const fields
- Allows each layer of the stack to add their own overhead variables

The HCD layer API and tests have been updated to use this new URB structure

7dd499d1f4 i2c: commands can now be re-used without deleting and creating new cmd links 
It is now possible to call `i2c_master_cmd_begin()` on the same
`i2c_cmd_handle_t` parameter. Thus, no extra allocation will be performed.
Moreover, as commands contains pointers to data, these can be modified
between two calls to `i2c_master_cmd_begin()`. This becomes very handy
for framebuffers.

dc6d6f225e spi_flash: reverted unwilling cs_setup argument 
Partially reverted 08f1bbe0c7.

The host should have this flexibility, which is consistent to the cs_hold argument.

However, the user should know as less as possible about the host.
So the wrapper layer (esp_flash_spi_init.c) should cover this, helping to set cs_setup to 1, to meet the common requirements.

1e58eb6928 system/security: Memprot bypassing mitigation 
Check Memprot lock bit(s) during the system startup, abort/reset on any Memprot parts found locked during this phase.
There is no legal reason to disallow the Memprot configuration by the system, so it's either a critical bug in the
application or an malicious attempt to bypass the system security.
Error message is printed before digital system reset.

This commit adds support for interrupt and isochronous pipes to the HCD:
- HCD now internally uses double buffering
- Added test cases for interrupt and isochronous transfers
- Reorganized test cases for each transfer type
- Updated API comments and maintainer's notes

614f1c175a Fix couple of UART issues 
- there was a small race in `uart_pattern_link_free`:
  `rx_pattern_pos.data` was accessed for reading outside spinlock
- `uart_flush_input` enabled
  `UART_INTR_RXFIFO_FULL|UART_INTR_RXFIFO_TOUT` intr mask on exit even
  if these flags weren't set when function was called

45846f06cf esp_eth: Improve GPIO interrupt processing in w5500 driver 
Increase the interrupt reassert level timing so the chances of missing
two consecutive events are minimal.
Enable only SIR_RECV interrupt event, so the SEND events are not used
for GPIO signal.

If the GPIO interrupt is re-asserted too quickly it could be missed. If this happens the driver goes silent and never receives any data. Recover by periodic checks of the IO signal level

5209af379a esp-netif: Improve esp_netif_is_netif_listed and esp_netif_get_handle_from_ifkey 
Each esp_netif_next_unsafe() call needs to iterate the s_head list.
It is inefficient with a do-while loop + esp_netif_next_unsafe() call.
Use SLIST_FOREACH instead to simplify the code and speed-up the matching.

While at it, also fix returning NULL from esp_netif_is_netif_listed().

0fc9253ed9 lwip: Update public port-layer headers with c++ guards, sdkconfig include

ede477ea65 paritition_table: Verify the partition table md5sum when loading the app 
Additionally, always enable the partition MD5 check if flash encryption is on in
Release mode. This ensures the partition table ciphertext has not been modified
(CVE-2021-27926).

The exception is pre-V3.1 ESP-IDF bootloaders and partition tables, which
don't have support for the MD5 entry.

6713291dad pthread: Fix behaviour when pthread destructor calls pthread_getspecific/pthread_setspecific 
Update as per specification at https://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/009695399/functions/pthread_key_create.html

Specifically:

- Before a destructor is called then the value for the corresponding key is
  already set to NULL.

- If a destructor calls pthread_setspecific() to assign a non-NULL value then
  this destructor is called again, after all existing non-NULL values have been
  called.

Adds a test for this relatively complex behaviour.

01664923f6 mbedtls: fixed CMake build warning 
Building mbedtls with CMake would warn that:

"A private source from a directory other than that of target "mbedcrypto
 has a relative path"

This happened due to some of the CMake variables listing sources could be empty.

Changed to only use target_sources in the code-path where we set the sources,
so we only call target_sources will non-empty variables.
