facab8c5a7 tools: Increase the minimal supported CMake version to 3.16 
This updates the minimal supported version of CMake to 3.16, which in turn enables us to use more CMake features and have a cleaner build system.
This is the version that provides most new features and also the one we use in our latest docker image for CI.

c45784b8c4 hal: Fix systimer counter value bit field 
This commit fixes the systimer_counter_value_t by adding a resreved field so that the
type fills 64-bits.

Without the reserved field, when compiling with -O0 optimization, the unoccupied high
bits would not be initalized by the compiler, leading to systimer_hal_get_counter_value()
returning a garbage value.

Replaces the previously used Docker Hub autobuild infrastructure.
This allows for more flexible configuration of the build process,
at the expense of some extra maintenance of CI workflow files
required.

a8904787fa
tools/docker: add IDF_CLONE_SHALLOW and IDF_INSTALL_TARGETS arguments 
These two arguments can be used to reduce the size of the Docker
image:

- Setting IDF_CLONE_SHALLOW enables shallow cloning.
- Setting IDF_INSTALL_TARGETS to the comma separated list of targets
  results in toolchains being installed only for these targets.

887421bb49 ci: Fix failing build system test when FreeRTOS SMP is enabled 
Build system tests check that xtensa_vectors.S is rebuilt in some of the CMake build system
tests. However, the path of this file may change when FreeRTOS SMP is enabled.

This commit fixes the CMake build system test by selecting another ".S" file who's path
does not change based on configuration.

e09ef86d7c partition_table: Add warning when partitions are nearly full 
This adds a warning in cases where the smallest partition is nearly full.
A test with a specially crafted partition table is created for the smallest partition warning.
If the threshold or the template itself change, change the factory app partition size as well.

'idf_tools.py add-version' has new options:
--override            Override tool versions with new data
--checksum-file       URL or path to local file with checksum/size for artifacts

Usage e.g.:

Since ulp wakeup signal are connected to ulp int raw(except esp32), we
need to clear ulp int raw before sleep when ulp wakeup enabled. Otherwise,

ci: iperf: recognize report results from newer iperf versions 
The iperf version used in older version of CI docker images had the
following output format:
[  3]  0.0-10.0 sec  1.25 MBytes  1.05 Mbits/sec   0.000 ms    0/  892 (0%)
The newer iperf version which was recently included in the container
prints more digits after the decimal point:
[  3] 0.0000-10.0148 sec  1.25 MBytes  1.05 Mbits/sec   0.002 ms    0/  895 (0%)
The regular expression to match this line expected a single zero after
the decimal point, so the new format no longer matches.
The fix is to expect any number of digits in the fractional part.

tests: panic: make 'get_test_name' work without VFS, add echo 
When vfs component is not added to the build, bare minimum syscalls
are provided by newlib component. These syscalls currently don't
perform CR/LF translation.
This commit makes the 'get_test_name' function work with minimal
syscalls and also adds echo, so that the user sees what they type.

newlib: fix return value of no-VFS _read_r if nothing received 
'read' function should return 0 when encountering an end of file. When
newlib calls read and sees EOF returned, it assumes that this
condition is permanent and never calls 'read' for this file again
(unless the read pointer is moved using fseek).
The correct behavior in case no characters were received over UART is
to return -1. In this case newlib will retry reading from file on next
call to fread, fgetc or another function which calls __srefill_r.

build system: remove lwip from common requirements 
lwip was added to common requirements list to provide "sys/socket.h"
header to all components without additional requirements specified.

However, lwip pulls in a lot of dependencies on other components.
This commit removes lwip from common requirements to reduce the number
of components in G1-only apps.

To compensate for this removal, the following changes are made:
- newlib (which is a common requirement) has a public dependency on
  lwip if lwip is present in the build. This ensures that sys/socket.h
  is available as long as lwip component is included into the build.
- lwip is now a public requirement of esp-tls since esp_tls.h includes
  sys/socket.h header.
- lwip is now a public requirement o esp_http_client because
  sys/socket.h is included from esp_http_client.h
- lwip is now a private requirement of esp_wifi for "smartconfig_ack"
- lwip is now a private requirement of mqtt for socket functions
- lwip is now a public requirement of tcp_transport because
  esp_transport_tcp.h includes sys/socket.h header.
- mbedtls checks if lwip component is present in the build. If yes,
  net_sockets.c is added to the build, along with the dependency on
  lwip. Previously lwip was a public requirement of mbedtls
  unconditionally.

system/g1_components test app is updated to reflect the changes

Default public dependencies of a component before and after this
change, except common requirements:

- esp_timer (public dependency of freertos)
- bootloader_support (public dependency of esp_hw_support)
- vfs (public dependency of lwip)
- esp_wifi (public dependency of lwip)
- esp_event (public dependency of esp_wifi)
- esp_netif (public dependency of esp_event)
- esp_eth (public dependency of esp_netif)
- esp_phy (public dependency of esp_wifi)

After:

- esp_timer (public dependency of freertos)
- bootloader_support (public dependency of esp_hw_support)

Altogether, the following components have been always added as
public requirements to all other components, and are not added now
([breaking-change]):

- lwip
- vfs
- esp_wifi
- esp_event
- esp_netif
- esp_eth
- esp_phy

Application components now need to explicitly declare dependencies on
these components.

b5bafae596 tools: add GDB v11.1 as a tool 
GDB now is standalone tool separated from toolchain due to frequent updates.

Added installation tests for the new tool.

Tests are changed because they were wrong, see explanation:

esp_hw_support. Since some of the functions are also used in
bootloader and because esp_hw_support is not part of the bootloader
build, part of the functions were moved into bootloader_support.
To make these functions available to the app, bootloader_support was
added as a public dependency of esp_hw_support.

Since esp_hw_support is in common requirements list, this has added
bootloader_support as a public requirement to every component in the
build. Adding new public requirements outside of common components
is undesirable, since components may accidentally include headers
from bootloader_support without explicitly declaring it as a
requirement.

This commit reverts this addition. Until a better solution is found,
some part of esp_memory_utils.h is duplicated into
bootloader_memory_utils.h. A CI check is added to make sure these
files stay in sync.

A memory region starts from REGION_START and ends at
(REGION_START+SIZE-1).

Prior to this change, the check assumes a to-be-added region starting from REGION_START is invalid. Let's take an easy example:

A memory region:  0x1000~0x10ff
new added region: 0x1000~0x1020

This will be valid.

163ddc3818 freertos: Update components CMakeLists.txt and Add SMP Kconfig option 
This commit does the following:

- Add a Kconfig option to select between the IDF FreeRTOS kernel and the
  FreeRTOS SMP kernel.
- Updates the freertos component's CMakeLists.txt so that FreeRTOS SMP
  files are now built based the the new configuration option.

This commit WILL NOT compile. The port files for FreeRTOS SMP still need to
be updated.

2d1afaf35b freertos: Add FreeRTOS SMP upstream files 
This commit copies over the sources files from
https://github.com/FreeRTOS/FreeRTOS-Kernel/tree/smp based on the
commit 4832377117b4198db43009f2b548497d9cdbf8da

The FreeRTOS SMP sources are added to components/freertos/FreeRTOS-Kernel-SMP

Notes:
- This commit WILL NOT compile correctly. It simply copies over sources files
- copyright_ignore.txt entries added so that we can avoid using SPDX headers
- Portable files are not added yet

a9fda54d39 esp_hw_support/esp_system: Re-evaluate header inclusions and include directories 
This commit updates the visibility of various header files and cleans up
some unnecessary inclusions. Also, this commit removes certain header
include paths which were maintained for backward compatibility.

ffdbeee9f6 sdmmc: Add erase command-38. Support erase/trim/discard/sanitize 
options.

Erase command (38) for SD cards allows option for erase/dicard/fule
operation at block level and for MMC cards supports option for
discard/trim at block level. When Sanitize is executed only the
portion of data that was unmapped by a Discard command shall be
removed by the Sanitize command.

Unit test cases added to verify ERASE feature in SD/SDSPI mode.
TRIM/DISCARD/SANITIZE tests for eMMC devices.

e543e97c7b system: fix SET_STACK macro crashing in windowoverflow8 exception 
If a windowoverflow8 happened after changing the SP, the exception handler would look for
the extra save area by looking at the previous frame's SP. This SP would be a garbage value
and could cause the windowoverflow exception to write to invalid memory ares.

examples: file_serving: add support for ESP32-S3, refactoring 
* Move filesystem mounting code into a separate file to simplify the
  main source file.
* Clean up SDMMC and SDSPI related code. Move pin configuration into
  Kconfig.
* Use same base_path ('/data') for either SPIFFS or SD. Remove the
  check in file_server.c about the base path.
* Update README according to the changes above.
