Spinlocks from spinlock.h do not disable the scheduler and thus cannot safely
be directly used as a locking mechanism. A task holding the lock can get
pre-empted, and at that point the new running task will also be allowed to
take the spinlock and access whatever it was protecting.
Another issue is that the task holding a spinlock could migrate to a different
core which in turn would cause the application to fail asserts. The current
implementation assumes the core that takes the lock is also the core that
releases it.

BSDs and Unices defined some non standardised functions and symbols used
for endianness handling: converting from Little Endian to Big Endian,
converting from Host to a specific representation, converting from a
specific representation to Host.
With this commit, a modified version of those symbols provided by
FreeBSD is imported.
The license of the imported code is still 2-Clause BSD.

Programs and libraries using compiler and system information about
endianness often include the system header `<endian.h>`.
In `xtensa-gcc` compiler with `newlib` distribution, that file is located in
`<machine/endian.h>`; this means that `#include <endian.h>` would fail
at compile time.
This commit fixes the issue by adding a compatibility `<endian.h>`
header which in turn just includes `<machine/endian.h>`.

esp2020r1 toolchain includes a nano.specs file, which instructs GCC to
substitute libc.a with libc_nano.a.
In the build system, this simplifies handling of the nano formatting
option, eliminating LIBC and LIBM global variables.

Since in b0491307, which has introduced the optimized window spill
procedure, _xt_context_save did not work correctly when called from
_xt_syscall_exc. This was because unlike _xt_lowint1, _xt_syscall_exc
does not save PS and EPC1. The new version of _xt_context_save
modified PS (on purpose) and EPC1 (accidentally, due to window
overflow exceptions), which resulted in a crash upon 'rfi' from the
syscall.
This commit adds restoring of PS and EPC1 in _xt_context_save. It also
slightly reduces the number of instructions used to prepare PS for
window spill.
Unit test for setjmp/longjmp (which were broken by this regression)
is added.

Misc. variables name corrections
!4452 used setting LINK_LIBRARIES and INTERFACE_LINK_LIBRARIES to link
components built under ESP-IDF build system. However, LINK_LIBRARIES does
not produce behavior same as linking PRIVATE. This MR uses the new
signature for target_link_libraries directly instead. This also moves
setting dependencies during component registration rather than after all
components have been processed.
The consequence is that internally, components have to use the new
signature form as well. This does not affect linking the components to
external targets, such as with idf_as_lib example. This only affects
linking additional libraries to ESP-IDF libraries outside component processing (after
idf_build_process), which is not even possible for CMake<v3.13 as
target_link_libraries is not valid for targets not created in current

Using xxx_periph.h in whole IDF instead of xxx_reg.h, xxx_struct.h, xxx_channel.h ... .
Cleaned up header files from unnecessary headers (releated to soc/... headers).
Removes the need to know/guess the paths to these libraries. Once we are gcc 8 only, we
can remove -nostdlib and no additional arguments are needed for system libraries.
The catch is: any time IDF overrides a symbol in the toolchain sysroot, we need
an undefined linker marker to make sure this symbol is seen by linker.
This MR removes the common dependency from every IDF components to the SOC component.
Currently, in the ``idf_functions.cmake`` script, we include the header path of SOC component by default for all components.
But for better code organization (or maybe also benifits to the compiling speed), we may remove the dependency to SOC components for most components except the driver and kernel related components.
In CMAKE, we have two kinds of header visibilities (set by include path visibility):
(Assume component A --(depends on)--> B, B is the current component)
1. public (``COMPONENT_ADD_INCLUDEDIRS``): means this path is visible to other depending components (A) (visible to A and B)
2. private (``COMPONENT_PRIV_INCLUDEDIRS``): means this path is only visible to source files inside the component (visible to B only)
and we have two kinds of depending ways:
(Assume component A --(depends on)--> B --(depends on)--> C, B is the current component)
1. public (```COMPONENT_REQUIRES```): means B can access to public include path of C. All other components rely on you (A) will also be available for the public headers. (visible to A, B)
2. private (``COMPONENT_PRIV_REQUIRES``): means B can access to public include path of C, but don't propagate this relation to other components (A). (visible to B)
1. remove the common requirement in ``idf_functions.cmake``, this makes the SOC components invisible to all other components by default.
2. if a component (for example, DRIVER) really needs the dependency to SOC, add a private dependency to SOC for it.
3. some other components that don't really depends on the SOC may still meet some errors saying "can't find header soc/...", this is because it's depended component (DRIVER) incorrectly include the header of SOC in its public headers. Moving all this kind of #include into source files, or private headers
4. Fix the include requirements for some file which miss sufficient #include directives. (Previously they include some headers by the long long long header include link)
This is a breaking change. Previous code may depends on the long include chain.
You may need to include the following headers for some files after this commit:
- soc/soc.h
- soc/soc_memory_layout.h
- driver/gpio.h
- esp_sleep.h
The major broken include chain includes:
1. esp_system.h no longer includes esp_sleep.h. The latter includes driver/gpio.h and driver/touch_pad.h.
2. ets_sys.h no longer includes soc/soc.h
3. freertos/portmacro.h no longer includes soc/soc_memory_layout.h

This uses a hack (temporarily defining __rtems__ from a wrapper header
file) to include timeradd, timersub, and similar macros, without
modifying newlib headers.
* Prevents section type conflict errors if (say) const & non-const data
is put into the same section (ie with DRAM_ATTR)
* Allows linker --gc-sections to remove unused custom sections
Don’t allow the compiler to convert malloc + memset into calloc,
causing a recursive call in _calloc_r. Fixes crash when building with
-O2 optimization level.
New unity component can be used for testing other applications.
Upstream version of Unity is included as a submodule.
Utilities specific to ESP-IDF unit tests (partitions, leak checking
setup/teardown functions, etc) are kept only in unit-test-app.
Kconfig options are added to allow disabling certain Unity features.
In some cases, linker could choose to use ROM functions instead of the
ones defined in IDF.
For functions used in ROM stub table, this would lead to infinite
recursion when the corresponding function was called from ROM.
For crypto functions, some of these were modified in IDF, and
incompatible with ROM counterparts.

This function speeds up or slows down the system clock in order to make a gradual adjustment. This ensures
that the calendar time reported by the system clock is always monotonically increasing, which might not happen
if you simply set the clock.
The delta argument specifies a relative adjustment to be made to the clock time. If negative, the system clock is
slowed down for a while until it has lost this much elapsed time. If positive, the system clock is speeded up for a
while.
If the olddelta argument is not a null pointer, the adjtime function returns information about any previous time
adjustment that has not yet completed.
The return value is 0 on success and -1 on failure.
To stop the adjustement, call the function settimeofday(current_time).
* Philosophical: "explicit is better than implicit".
* Practical: Allows useful errors if invalid directories given in components as the defaults aren't
always used. Also trims the -I path from a number of components that have no actual include
directory.
* Simplifies knowing which components will be header-only and which won't
libc time function now rely on esp_timer_get_time as the source of
high-resolution time, rather than FRC1 timer. Internally, on the ESP32
esp_timer implementation uses FRC2 timer.
- Change help text and labels in Kconfig to use "high-resolution timer"
instead of FRC1. Keep existing Kconfig option name to be backwards
compatible.
- Change references to "FRC1" in the source code to "FRC".
These functions were discarded but not provided in ROM.

Also refactored some of the generation of linker paths, library list. This required cleaning up the way the bootloader
project works, it's now mostly independent from the parent.
If scheduler was running, and lock was an automatic variable (ie stack-allocated) to be initialised by _lock_init*,
initialisation could be skipped if the lock variable was non-zero (and lock would be left invalid).
In other cases the lock is statically initialised to zero by __LOCK_INIT*
Small changes to clock calibration value will cause increasing errors
the longer the device runs. Consider the case of deep sleep, assuming
that RTC counter is used for timekeeping:
- before sleep:
time_before = rtc_counter * calibration_val
- after sleep:
time_after = (rtc_counter + sleep_count) * (calibration_val + epsilon)
where 'epsilon' is a small estimation error of 'calibration_val'.
The apparent sleep duration thus will be:
time_after - time_before = sleep_count * (calibration_val + epsilon)
+ rtc_counter * epsilon
Second term on the right hand side is the error in time difference
estimation, it is proportional to the total system runtime (rtc_counter).
To avoid this issue, this change makes RTC_SLOW_CLK calibration value
persistent across restarts. This allows the calibration value update to
be preformed, while keeping time after update same as before the update.
This change removes the erroneous cast to uint32_t (which caused time to
wrap around after 1 hour) and splits the multiplication into two terms
to remove the wraparound after 13 days.

- RTC_CNTL_SLOWCLK_FREQ define is removed; rtc_clk_slow_freq_get_hz
function can be used instead to get an approximate RTC_SLOW_CLK
frequency
- Clock calibration is performed at startup. The value is saved and used
for timekeeping and when entering deep sleep.
- When using the 32k XTAL, startup code will wait for the oscillator to
start up. This can be possibly optimized by starting a separate task
to wait for oscillator startup, and performing clock switch in that
task.
- Fix a bug that 32k XTAL would be disabled in rtc_clk_init.
- Fix a rounding error in rtc_clk_cal, which caused systematic frequency
error.
- Fix an overflow bug which caused rtc_clk_cal to timeout early if the
slow_clk_cycles argument would exceed certain value
- Improve 32k XTAL oscillator startup time by introducing bootstrapping
code, which uses internal pullup/pulldown resistors on 32K_N/32K_P
pins to set better initial conditions for the oscillator.

While there was no register at DR_REG_FRC_TIMER_BASE + 0x60, due to
peripheral address space wraparound this write actually affected one of
FRC2 registers, which is used by WiFi stack to implement legacy
ets_timer APIs.
This change uses FRC_TIMER_LOAD_REG(0) instead, which can be set to
known value safely.
In some cases (when RTC register reads are performed from the APP CPU), a write to FRC_TIMER_INT_REG may be lost on the bus.
Writing to another DPORT register immediately before or after that works around the issue.
We write one dummy value to an address which doesn’t have any register associated with it.

One common pattern of using assert function looks as follows:
int ret = do_foo();
assert(ret == 0); // which reads as: “do_foo should never fail here, by design”
The problem with such code is that if ‘assert’ is removed by the preprocessor in release build,
variable ret is no longer used, and the compiler issues a warning about this.
Changing assert definition in the way done here make the variable used, from language syntax perspective.
Semantically, the variable is still unused at run time (as sizeof can be evaluated at compile time), so the compiler
can optimize things away if possible.
Clean up WiFi & Bluetooth config options
* Splits "WiFi" configuration out from ESP32 configuration submenu to its own menu.
* Renames "BT" to "Bluetooth", enabling Bluetooth is now in this option not the ESP32 submenu.
* Also disables compiling/linking of BT stack if Bluetooth is disabled, saves some build time.

Add dynamic interrupt allocation mechanism
This adds:
- Dynamic allocation of interrupts. Pass it the features of the interrupt you want, it'll set you up with an int.
- Shared interrupts. Enables multiple peripheral drivers to use the same interrupt.
- Marking what interrupts are fully executable from IRAM; if an int isn't marked like that it will get disabled once flash cache gets disabled.

- Modifies driver to be in line with these changes

system_* APIs cleanup
This changeset is mostly about cleaning up `system_*` APIs and moving them from libcore. It has dragged a few more changes along, however.
- `system_deep_sleep` deprecated, new name is `esp_deep_sleep`
- `system_efuse_read_mac` deprecated, new name is `esp_efuse_read_mac`
- `system_read/write_rtc_mem` removed (reason: we use linker to place code/data into RTC memory now)
- `system_get_sdk_version` deprecated. Returns "master" for now. Support for compile-time and runtime version detection will be done in a separate MR.
- `system_get_time` and variations have been deprecated. `gettimeofday` should be used instead.
- `system_restart` deprecated, new name is `esp_restart`. Rewritten code to work correctly from any of the cores.
- `system_restore` deprecated, `esp_wifi_restore` should be used instead.
- `system_get_rst_info` removed (it wasn't in a header file)
- RTC library has been updated to latest version
- Logging output from `libfoo.a` goes through `foo_printf` function now, where `foo ` is any of the library names. For libraries other than rtc and phy, this is a temporary measure, until we finish switching to esp_log library and clean up all uses of printf/ets_printf.
- ESP-IDF build will fail if any of the libraries have printf/ets_printf reference.
- Added `esp_random` function which gets values from HW RNG. I have added code which makes sure the value is not polled too often (allows at least 16 APB cycles). Also added a header file for HW RNG (just one register).

New makefile component_wrapper.mk allows some variables to be set
before component.mk is evaluated. This properly fixes problems with
sdkconfig being hard to access in all phases of the build.
Including component_common.mk is no longer necessary and will print a
deprecation warning for components which use it.
Reduces number of make invocations, allows variables exported in project
to be seen in all component make processes, not just the main ones.
Also makes a no-op build about 3x faster than it was.

Fixes problems with Eclipse trying to build in directories it shouldn't.
